I adapted Helen's "Hot Seat" activity to my vocabulary class(jaeryang English).
To begin with the conclusion, it was a half success in boys' class.
I gave Ss 60 new words and did drills together. After dividing groups and giving some time to practice, I started the game of standing up at the stress syllable group by group. Most of Ss were engaged in it, but some Ss made a loud noise. Anyway it was new and fun.

Good to hear that! Starting is really really important, I believe, cause knowing something is totally different from doing something. Just envy your brave commencement.

How brave and diligent teacher you are! I wish I could be one of your students and enjoy your class.
Conglations for your valuable trial~

I also tried group works and games using numbers.
Even though boys were making too much noise and needed more understanding, it was fun.

Although I learned many teaching methods and driils through TESOL course, I have to admit that I have little chance in adapting these to real class of my high school. On seeing your article of first trial, I feel that you are so well-prepared and systematic. In a sense, I am proud of your position of middle school teacher. I hope that you will enjoy yourself to the full in your class. I will always stand by you who try to do your utmost in everything.
(P.S) Thanks again for your priceless materials and references.

I'm not a memeber of your group, but I feel excited to reply your post. (I hope you don't mind it.....^^;)
I tried some pronunciation drills, but it didn't go well because the students were too shy.
I'm sure you must be very hardworking, and I want to give you a very big hand~~. Please wish me a luck!

Wow!!! I'm surprised to read yours. I also want to try that game. But I'm still worried about my students' reaction. I'm not sure where they will follow me or not. Anyway~ I really happy for your starting :)

Hello. I am very happy to read some messages from you. How is your new semester? Agnes, you are brilliant. You already tried something new in your class. I haven't started something new yet. Soon I will try things that I have learned in my course. Take care, bye. Alice

Hi all

Warmest hugs from Ukraine. I am so happy to read about your first experiments! Please keep up! I know how hard it is, but still we should remember that a long journey starts with the first step. I can't wait to read more about your experiments!

Andy :-)

Hello! How was your Chuseok? I'm surprised and glad to read yours. Especially I gave Agnes a big hand for her wonderful trial. I was very busy so far because I made students solve many questions to prepare the exam which evalutes middle students' academic ability. I'm busy going out the progress of the textbook now. I tried to use English as much as possible in my class. But students said me that "why do you speak English? We don't understand what you said. Please speak in Korean." So I speak half English and half Korean.
